Is it more the peace, space and nature you are looking for, even then the Costa del Sol is a perfect base. Mijas is artistically lined up against the mountains with the same name. From the village you walk to the road that runs above it and here you will find the starting point of about five hiking trails that all offer a breathtaking view of the village itself, the coast and the Mediterranean Sea. From here you can even walk to Ojén, a similar village about 30 kilometers from Mijas on the flanks of the Sierra de las Nieves in the interior of Marbella.
If you want to visit more hiking areas, drive to Refugio de Juanar near Ojén in about 45 minutes to try out various routes from there. One takes you to the top of La Concha, the shell-shaped mountain that forms the backdrop for the fashionable Marbella.
